GULAN KUNJUMON
- the trump card in the game, has arrived !

Thuruppu Gulan is in theaters. Mammootty has broken all the myths. Yet again proving his ability in handling humorous roles marvelously, Mammootty has also performed superbly in two dance numbers in Thuruppu Gulan. The dance sequences, which will be the highlight of the mega movie, has been perfomed by Mammooty with much ease and flexibility.

A through out entertainer, Thuruppu Gulan is packed with humour, action, dance and songs. A powerful story base, Mammookka's superb performance, matching supporting casts, and a good crew, are the reasons for this mega success.

Thuruppugulan is directed by Johny Antony and produced by Milan Jaleel, under the banner of Galaxy films. Scriptwriters Udaykrishna - Siby K. Thomas team has done a good combination of humour, action, dance and song, for their first Mammootty movie. Camera by Sanjeev Shankar, art direction by Salu K. George, make-up by Pattanam Rasheed, all contribute to success of this movie.

The story is focused on Kochuthoma and his son Kunjumon. Kochuthoma is an ordinary man making his livelihood by running a typical street side "thattukada" in Kochi. His only son Kunjumon is his support and relief. At the age of ten, when his son faced trouble to stay at Kochi, Kochuthoma sent him to Kozhikode to stay with his dear friend Swami. A very humourous and influential person, Swami owns a Jewellery in Kozhikode market. Kunjomon is brought up under Swami's gaurdianship.

Like his father, Kunjumon also starts a "thattukada" in Kozhikode. But 10-year-old Kunjumon was more interested in the game of cards. Kunjumon grew up to become a renowned gambler, which earned him the title of "Gulan Kunjumon". Though he had very little educational background, he was much modern in his appearance. The bold Gulan Kunjumon's favourite pastime is reading his favourite magazine - Balarama.

Kunjumon and his father Kochuthoma are like friends. Whenever his father is in need, Gulan Kunjumon steps in. Once Kochuthoma had a dispute with the owner of Raj Palace, a five star hotel near his "thattukada". As usual Kunjumon drove down from Kozhikode to his father's rescue.

Raj Palace, which is actually owned by a multi-millionaire Chandrashekara Menon, is now run by Sreedharan Unnithan and his sons. Chandrashekara Menon had authorised Sreedhran Unnithan to manage the hotel, when he had to go to Singapore for business purpose. But due to some crisis, his business declined and he is imprisoned in Singapore.

His daughter Lakshmi, come to Kochi, to dispose her father’s hotel, in order to acquire money for her father's release from jail. But Sreedharan Unnithan and his wicked sons had forged documents to transfer the five star hotel in their name. Lakshmi proceeds to fight legally against them. She approaches Kochuthoma, who was her father's close friend. Kochuthoma and his son Gulan Kunjumon support her against their common rival, Sridharan Unnithan. The incidents, which follow, form the base of the story.

Innocent makes Kochuthoma marvelous; Sneha appears in the role of Lakshmi. Jagathi Sreekumar plays the role of Swami. Harisree Ashokan, Saleem Kumar, Devan, etc are the other artists in the movie.
